One of the things that we often do is to feel shame in our mistakes. 

I was talking to a friend one day who was so frustrated with herself for losing her temper with her child.  I remember thinking that if we were perfect, then our kids would grow up to expect themselves to be perfect parents too.  And when they weren't (because that's impossible), they would wonder what was wrong with them. 

So, in your imperfection, take the time to apologize, and teach your kids how to be real, authentic, honest and humble parent's themselves one day.
